TWOandTHROUGH

I am here to give you a head start on the “two and through” era in the National Basketball Association (NBA).  This era does not currently exist in the NBA, but it cannot be ignored.

The term “two and through” refers to a student athlete completing two years of collegiate basketball before entering into the NBA draft.  Get through two years of collegiate basketball and enjoy the greener pastures as a professional athlete in the NBA.

You may ask, “Why would an era that doesn’t exist even mean anything to me”?  That’s a very good question and here’s the best short-answer I can give you:  I predict that the “two and through” era will begin within the next 5 years.  An era when the minimum age to enter the NBA will be 20 years old; which is the typical age of a student-athlete who has completed two seasons of collegiate basketball.  Such a rule change will have a large impact on both the NBA and collegiate game of basketball.

I am a huge fan of basketball and have lived through the current “one and done” era.  I’m not here to talk about how the “one and done” era has affected basketball – but I’ve seen the kind of change such a rule can have on the NBA and collegiate game of basketball.  In hindsight how the “one and done” rule has affected basketball has been fascinating and has absolutely been worth paying attention to.  I’d like to dedicate this blog to provide insight and information about the future “two and through” era (before it comes into effect) and provide a window into how it will impact both the NBA and collegiate game of basketball.

I will provide two posts each week: one on Tuesday and one on Thursday.

Tuesday will focus on the “TWO” portion of “two and through”.  Each blog will focus on a specific topic regarding the two-year requirement and how it will affect the NBA and/or collegiate game of basketball.

Thursday will focus on the “THROUGH” portion of “two and through”.  Each Thursday will profile either a NBA player (past or present) who went through two years of collegiate basketball, or a current collegiate athlete that is a “two and through” prospect – one we feel only needs the two-year minimum to get drafted by the NBA.

Sit back and enjoy!
